Custom Prescription Service Food Allergen Labeling
Dear Practitioner, In accordance with FDA’s Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA), Mayway has begun putting warning labels on products containing major food allergens. Beginning January 1st we will also be placing allergen warnings on all Custom Prescription Formulas. The labels will read: “Allergy Info: prepared in a pharmacy that handles soy, wheat, gluten, cuttlefish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts and sesame.” Also, for formulas that contain potential allergen causing herbs we will add a label stating: “ALLERGY WARNING – this prescription contains: O Gluten O Soy O Wheat O Cuttlefish O Shellfish O Peanuts O Tree nuts O Sesame” We will place a “  ” next to those that apply.
Potential allergen causing herbs are as follows: Cuttlefish: hai piao xiao Sesame: zhi ma (hei), zhi ma (bai) Wheat: fu xiao mai, shen qu Gluten: e jiao, lu jiao jiao, mai ya, yi tang, fu xiao mai, shen qu Soy: dan dou chi, e jiao, he shou wu, lu jiao jiao Tree nuts: shen qu, xing ren, hu tao ren, tao ren, bai guo, yu li ren If you have any questions please feel free to call us 1-800-262-9929.
