As we celebrate 20 years of Acupuncturists Without Borders, we honor not just the milestones we've reached, but the people—you—who made them possible. Our heartfelt appreciation is given to every healthcare professional, volunteer, instructor, staff member, board member, advisor and donor who has provided so much—your passion, your time, and your heart to what AWB has become. This anniversary is a celebration of all of you who have walked with us, served with us, and believed in what AWB could become. Everything we’ve achieved—and everything we will achieve—is because of you.

AWB's Future

Today, AWB stands at the threshold of an expansion — one where our impact will grow deeper and broader than ever before. We believe true healing begins when local practitioners lead with heart and understanding, in their own communities, responding to the unique needs of the people they know best. Having embraced a globally distributed, locally led model, we have put trust, expertise, and leadership firmly in the hands of those on the ground.

But knowledge and passion alone are not enough. The greatest challenge these committed practitioners face is financial burden. Without the resources to sustain their vital work, even the most dedicated practitioners risk burnout, leaving communities vulnerable when they need care the most. The costs of major purchases, infrastructure, and ongoing operations can stand in the way of lasting healing.

That is why we are expanding our support, moving beyond training, mentorship, and supplies to provide critical financial support that breaks down these barriers. By easing a bit of the financial load, we hope to help practitioners feel they can serve their communities for as long as they are needed and able.

The AWB Foundation

Designed to ignite possibility and sustainability for practitioners wanting to support their communities. Initially, AWB will begin by providing funding for individual items that are preventing a project from moving forward. Our first phase goal is to provide funding gifts to five projects. The second phase will allow organizations to apply for seed grants that support larger, long-term community-led programs.

Together with our proven training and mentorship, this financial support will give practitioners the tools to craft sustainable projects that reflect local realities and cultures. Whether in bustling cities, remote villages, refugee camps, or disaster zones, practitioners will be equipped not only to help heal, but to sustain that healing over time.

The future of AWB is to further support a global community of practitioners, bound by shared purpose. By investing in their capacity and lifting some of the burdens that threaten to slow them down, we will create a ripple effect of hope, resilience, and transformation — making it easier to move beyond response to lasting change.

AWB is committed to standing alongside those who answer the call to support those in need with courage and compassion, ensuring they have the resources to serve as long as they are needed. Together, we will build a world where trauma meets healing, hope, and resilience — led by those who know their communities best, in as many places in the world as we are asked to serve.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey. From our earliest days to our work today, providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care where we are called and able. We have grown because of your unwavering belief in what our medicine can do. And we thank you.
