This is the eighth and final course in a series of 8. The first course is a required prerequisite for all subsequent courses. Course 8 will review the herbal categories Open Orifices and Extinguish Wind & Tremor followed by a detailed Case Study review discussing possible herbs for the case study and why they were selected. In the eighth and final class we will take an in-depth look at the most frequently used herbs within the Open Orifices and Extinguish Wind & Tremor categories. The review will include graphs comparing individual herb functions, thermal properties, entering meridians and best use for each herb. Discussion will include examples of specific applications of herbs within the category, and common Dui Yao combinations used frequently in classic herbal prescriptions. In this final class, more time will be spent on a detailed case study reviewing possible herbs that can address the case diagnosis using a real-world scenario.

Mark W. Frost, MSTCM, L.Ac. is chair of the Herbal Medicine Department at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, California. Professor Frost teaches in both the Masters and Doctoral Programs, serves as a clinical supervisor in colleges Community Clinic, and has had a private practice in San Francisco for over 30 years. He is the author of numerous articles on Chinese herbal medicine and has been an active presenter at TCM conferences since 2014.
